Sugar can be healthy??
Let me explain:
Sugar is a carb that provides energy our cells need to survive. They are found naturally in many foods, but are added HEAVILY in processed foods. If you’ve been following me for any amount if time, you know natural is always best.
Natural sugar sources like dates, maple syrup and raw local honey are much healthier for you than processed options loaded with high fructose corn syrup and artificial sugars.
Too much sugar leads to endless health problems – but I’ve never heard of a poor dentist report for eating too many apples.
Your body needs some sugar to function – so make sure to give it the good stuff!
But also be mindful of how much of the healthy options you are consuming, moderation is key.
And if you are using a baking recipe that says sugar, look into the alternatives instead, sometimes things like apple sauce work well to add some sweetness and moisture.
P.S Speaking of healthy sugars, today I made a batch of insanely delicious ginger snaps using dates. They have become an absolute favorite with all my clients. I will add the recipe here soon!
